Einmal Mailand und zurück

posted on: Mittwoch, 23. April 2014

Naples Adventures, Part 2

The following day, after raising our lazy eyelids and drinking Cappuccino in the sun in a little café right next to the busy main street, we made our way to the beautiful Island of Ischia. The others borrowed bikes to drive around the island, but after a disastrous coincidence with me and an especially rusty exemplar I decided to rather discover the area by foot. I did not regret it.

One of the highlights when visiting Ischia is quite certainly Castello Aragonese. I did not make it up there, but already looking at it is pretty breathtaking!

While I went adventuring I ended up in a fairy-tale like park that was incredibly quite and very different from the "usual" mediterranean feel of the rest of the Island. I followed a cat that I wanted to photograph for a bit and she lead me to this wonderful place: A lady sat there on a bench, surrounded by cats, assumingly the oldest one on her lap, mumbling "Che bella" while petting the Cat's scrubby fur.

One Frozen Yogurt and a beautiful sunset later we all met up down at the harbour to make our way back to Naples for some original Pizza and ice cold beer.

To be continued...

Bits & Pieces

Some moments captured throughout the last weeks. Even if I am running the danger of giving the impression that all we ever do is linger at the beach and drink cappuccino - do not worry, I have had my fair share of work, too. But now my bags are packed and I am heading to Naples tomorrow for four days of adventures, hanging with friends and discovering new horizons. Cannot wait to come back with a mind full of new impressions and a camera full of precious moments to share with you.

A lovely weekend to ya`ll!

Foto der Woche #2: A secret garden

posted on: Mittwoch, 5. März 2014

As beautiful as this place is, there is one thing that Venice just cannot give you that my heart is aching for these days: The presence of nature. Forests, wild growing trees, secret gardens, wide landscapes. It puts your monkey mind back in perspective. Thank god my university has a little park where you can hear birds sing and the wind playing with the leafs. This is also where you can find the first little messengers of spring. Elusive & fleeing. I watch them while I try to catch up on my reading and hope for summer.

Photo of the week #8 (well, actually one!)

posted on: Mittwoch, 26. Februar 2014

Two months ago the wonderful Fee and her blogmate-in-crime Juli launched their new Project "Photo of the week", which is a great way to collect small and great memories, remind yourself to always (always!) take your camera and take a peak into the life of all the other participants. I fell in love with the idea right away, but life happened and I totally forgot about it until now and I decided: Better late, than never!

So what you see here is a photo taken on Monday morning (because hanging out at the beach while everyone else is working is totally my life right now, duh!). After a weekend of carnival celebrations and overcrowded places we visited the nearly empty beach at Lido. A light breeze, a completely blue sky and all of this in February. Hell, yeah!

Life is so good right now.

A trip to the city of Romeo and Juliet

posted on: Samstag, 22. Februar 2014

Just quickly jumping in to show you some impressions of our daytrip to Verona on Thursday. Such a beautiful place, even though the casa di Giulietta is a little bit disappointing, regarding the fact that the greatest love story of all time is supposed to have taken place there.

The carnival has just started and woke sleepy Venice from its hibernation. There are plenty of stories to tell and thoughts to write down, but for some reason I could not get myself to do that recently - which is a pity, since quite a few moments might be forever lost now. Next week my last Uni courses are starting and I begin to feel some kind of day-to-day-routine with the people, the university, the life. That might have been the reason why I was so shocked when the boyfriend, who just dropped by for a mini-vacation, reminded me that I have already been here for two months and that I merely have another four left. Holy crap, time is flying!

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing great and I will be back soon with more exciting things to tell.

Lots of love

Xx

Water. Water everywhere.

When you open your Facebook front page and a friend of yours just posted "There are people kayaking by my window" you know that the hightide in Venice has reached a new level. I had heard about the city being flooded before, but I certainly did not imagine it to be like this - including late night wading through alleys turned into lakes so dark you cannot even see the ground & soaking wet feet because the water is too high for your rubber boots. For the Venetians it is not a big deal though and sometimes the men are even so nice to piggyback unprepared tourists to the next scaffold or dry Vaporetto station.

Usually I will leave all my important belongings at home, because everything is soaked within a few minutes. On a day it was not too bad I dared to take my camera to snap a few photos.

Times are a little crazy right now with university starting on Monday, so bear with me until I find my mojo again. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend, may it be sunny or snowy or, well, as wet as it is here!
